New Year's Eve here in Los Angeles was cold and wet. It was a truly somber end to a brutal year of iconic celebrity deaths and horribly stupid politics. My abstract plans fell through and thus the pinnacle of my night was waking up at 11:59 only to still not care about the change in time. My posting this look isn't to dupe you into thinking I did something fun, I just have amusing opinions that I want to share.
I've yet to see anyone pair a shirt-dress with a department store poly-blend suit coat. There's something very wrong about it. It feels cheap, or misguided. Like, "that poor curly headed guy, he doesn't have any style whatsoever, so he made a cheap suit coat the highlight of his outfit."
But, that's really where the magic is. To my imaginary drunk friends that I would've shown up wearing this look to celebrate with, they'd think I dressed up! And in the dark, no one would notice that the coat needs to be professionally wet cleaned, probably twice. What's more, I wouldn't have to ruin a good time just because some drunk rando accidentally messed up my favorite clothes.
This year, my only resolution is to care even less about what people think than I already do, and I'm only making that a resolution because it happened to coincide with my posting a look with dirt to brush off my shoulder.
